Cyber Safety Resources

Wapato School Districts Standards

 

1. Annually, educate Wapato School District student's on:

  • Cyber Bullying
  • Social Networking
  • Social Media and Sexting
  • Online Etiquette, Plagiarism, and Copyright

 

2. Students from 4th to 12th Grades are expected to take the Cyber Safety quiz in Gaggle.net.

  • Students can access the quiz by logging in Gaggle.net using their respective usernames and passwords.
  • Information regarding their usernames and passwords can be obtained from the building secretary.
  • Students can still be provided with additional cyber safety lessons.

 

3. Students from Pre-K to 3rd Grades will receive their Cyber Safety education through classroom instruction from the, Librarian, or the classroom teacher.


Annual Expectations

 

Elementary

  • Building Librarians will have a three-month window starting September 2th through December 7th to have 4th to 6th Grade students take the Cyber Safety quiz in Gaggle.net;
  • Provide cyber safety lessons, especially for Pre-K to 3rd Grade students; and, build awareness for all students.
  • {place holder} will be completed annually no later than December 7th by the School Librarian.

 

Middle School

  • Building Librarian will have a three-month window starting September 2th through December 1st to :have students take the Cyber Safety quiz in Gaggle.net;
  • provide cyber safety lessons; and, build awareness for all students.
  • {place holder} will be completed annually no later than December 7th by the School Librarian.

 

High School

  • Building Librarian will have a three-month window starting September 2th through December 7th to:have students take the Cyber Safety quiz in Gaggle.net;
  • Provide cyber safety lessons; and, build awareness for all students.
  • {place holder }will be completed annually no later than December 7th by the School Librarian.

Parent Information Cyber Safety Parent Tips

  • Place computer in a place that is visible
  • Keep the lines of communication open so they feel free to discuss their concerns about the Internet
  • Start Internet safety conversations at an early age
  • Surf the Internet with your young children
  • Set expectations on what is appropriate and inappropriate use of Internet
  • Report any illegal content to authorities
