A number of community members as well as former and current staff now own a piece of Wapato Schools history.  They stopped by in early October to pick up a brick from the now-demolished Satus Elementary School building.  Many of them shared stories of their time attending school or working in the building.

To those sharing their memories, the school was more than a building. It was a place where children learned to read, made friends, and grew with the support of caring teachers for more than 70 years.

The building was closed this past summer and demolished to make way for a new elementary school that will replace both Satus and Camas elementary schools. The new school is expected to be completed in early spring of 2028.
