1. The student will take a state approved Risks and Needs Assessment.
2. The district will use the results of the assessment to create a plan to reduce student absences.
3. For students with an IEP or 504 plan, the team will convene to consider the reasons for the absences and adjust the IEP or 504 plan as necessary.

1. El estudiante tomará una Evaluación de Riesgos y Necesidades aprobada por el estado.
2. El distrito utilizará los resultados de la evaluación para crear un plan para reducir las ausencias de los estudiantes.

What happens after 7 UNEXCUSED absences in a month or 15 UNEXCUSED absences in a year?

1. The parent/guardian and the school district through the attendance clerk enter into a contract to improve the student’s attendance OR the case can be referred to the Community Engagement Board.
2. The school district through the attendance clerk may file truancy petitions with the juvenile court.
3. If the student is not in compliance with a court order resulting from a truancy petition, the school district through the attendance clerk is required to file a contempt motion.

 

¿Qué sucede después de 7 ausencias INJUSTIFICADAS en un mes o 15 ausencias INJUSTIFICADAS en un año?

1. El padre/tutor y el distrito escolar a través del secretario de asistencia celebran un contrato para mejorar la asistencia del estudiante O el caso puede ser remitido a la Junta de Participación Comunitaria.
2. El distrito escolar, a través del secretario de asistencia, puede presentar peticiones de ausentismo escolar ante el tribunal de menores.
3. Si el estudiante no cumple con una orden judicial resultante de una petición de ausentismo escolar, el distrito escolar a través del secretario de asistencia debe presentar una moción de desacato.

The WSD Community Engagement Board (CEB) aims to collaborate with students and families to identify obstacles and/or barriers, develop an action plan, and connect to resources that will improve school engagement, attendance and reduce the number of cases being referred to Yakama and Yakima County Juvenile/Truancy Court.

La Junta de Participación Comunitaria  (CEB) de WSD tiene como objetivo colaborar con estudiantes y familias para identificar obstáculos y/o barreras, desarrollar un plan de acción y conectarse a recursos que mejorarán la participación y asistencia escolar y reducirán la cantidad de casos remitidos a Yakama y Tribunal de Menores/Ausentismo Escolar del Condado de Yakima.
