Wapato School District Families/ Familias del Distrito Escolar de Wapato: 

In collaboration with the Washington State Department of Health, Wapato Public Schools is participating in a state-funded effort to provide voluntary COVID-19 testing for our students and staff.   The voluntary program is designed to further help contain the virus, protect our communities, and keep students and staff safe and healthy. 

Here is how the voluntary testing protocol will work: 

Voluntary testing: Students and staff who show symptoms while at school or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 will be referred to the school district’s testing site where they can get a free, voluntary rapid antigen test that day.  If it is a student, school district staff will make contact with the parent/guardian regarding consent prior to engaging in any testing protocol.  The tests are a painless shallow nasal swab administered by a trained staff member.  Results are available onsite in 15-minutes.  If the test is positive, they will be asked to quarantine for at least 10 days and until symptoms have resolved. If the test is negative, they will be asked to stay home until symptoms have improved.  

Outbreak response: When a positive case is identified, the school will activate its outbreak mitigation testing plan, offering free and easy testing to everyone who has had contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19. All of these contacts will be asked to quarantine for 10 days, regardless of the test results, in order to prevent further household or community transmission. 

Our goal is to put the best possible strategies in place so that our students, staff and families feel safe, protected, and comfortable while focusing on the mission of providing our students the great education they deserve.

En colaboración con el Departamento de Salud del Estado de Washington, las Escuelas Públicas de Wapato están participando en un esfuerzo financiado por el estado para proporcionar pruebas voluntarias de COVID-19 para nuestros estudiantes y personal. El programa voluntario está diseñado para ayudar aún más a contener el virus, proteger nuestras comunidades y mantener a los estudiantes y al personal seguros y saludables. 

Así es como funcionará el protocolo de pruebas voluntarias: 

Pruebas voluntarias: Los estudiantes y el personal que muestran síntomas o hayan estado expuestos a alguien con COVID-19 serán remitidos al sitio de pruebas del distrito escolar donde pueden obtener una prueba rápida de antígenos gratuita ese día. Las pruebas son un hisopo nasal poco profundo y indoloro administrado por un miembro del personal capacitado. Los resultados están disponibles en el sitio en 15 minutos. Si la prueba es positivo, se les pedirá que se mantengan en cuarentena durante al menos 10 días y hasta que los síntomas se hayan resuelto. Si la prueba es negativa, se les pedirá que se queden en casa hasta que los síntomas hayan mejorado. 

Respuesta a un brote: Cuendo se identifica un caso positivo, la escuela activará su plan de pruebas de mitigación de brotes, ofreciendo pruebas gratuitas y fáciles a todas las personas que hayan tenido contacto con una persona que a dado positivo en la prueba de COVID-19. Se les pedirá a todos estos contactos que se pongan en cuarentena durante 10 días, independientemente de los resultados de la prueba, para evitar una mayor transmisión en el hogar o la comunidad.

Nuestro objetivo es implementar las mejores estrategias posibles para que nuestros estudiantes, personal y familias se sientan seguros, protegidos y cómodos mientras nos enfocamos en la mission de brindarles a nuestros estudiantes la excelente educación que se merecen.
