Why the District has a Levy

The Educational Programs & Operations Levy helps pay for several programs and services the state does not consider to be “basic education”.

Did you know the state provides NO money for athletics.  Coaches, equipment and event expenses are all paid for by the Educational Programs and Operations Levy.

The levy also helps bridge the funding gap for many staff and programs that are underfunded. The state underfunds services like safety/security and school nurses.

Our District employs 5 full-time, basic education funded healthcare team members (2-nurses & 3-health assistants).  They serve 3,200 students in 7 school buildings. Based on our student population, the state formula for "Basic Education" only pays for about one 1/2-time nurse. Thanks to our levy, we can cover the state-funded nurse's remaining cost and the other 4 full-time healthcare staff needed to care for our students.
