District Cyber Safety

Wapato School Districts Standards
 
1. Annually, educate Wapato School District student's on:
  • Cyber Bullying
  • Social Networking
  • Social Media and Sexting
  • Online Etiquette, Plagiarism, and Copyright
 
2. Students from 4th to 12th Grades are expected to take the Cyber Safety quiz in Gaggle.net.
  • Students can access the quiz by logging in Gaggle.net using their respective usernames and passwords.
  • Information regarding their usernames and passwords can be obtained from the building secretary.
  • Students can still be provided with additional cyber safety lessons.
 
3. Students from Pre-K to 3rd Grades will receive their Cyber Safety education through classroom instruction from the, Librarian, or the classroom teacher.

Annual Expectations
 
Elementary
  • Building Librarians will have a three-month window starting September 2th through December 7th to:
  • have 4th to 6th Grade students take the Cyber Safety quiz in Gaggle.net;
  • provide cyber safety lessons, especially for Pre-K to 3rd Grade students; and, build awareness for all students.
  • {place holder} will be completed annually no later than December 7th by the School Librarian.
 
Middle School
  • Building Librarian will have a three-month window starting September 2th through December 1st to
  • :have students take the Cyber Safety quiz in Gaggle.net;
  • provide cyber safety lessons; and, build awareness for all students.
  • {place holder} will be completed annually no later than December 7th by the School Librarian.
 
High School
  • Building Librarian will have a three-month window starting September 2th through December 7th to:have students take the Cyber Safety quiz in Gaggle.net;
  • provide cyber safety lessons; and, build awareness for all students.
  • {place holder }will be completed annually no later than December 7th by the School Librarian.
Goal

To promote and educate all Wapato School District's community members on the importance of Internet safety, so that they become successful digital citizens, as specified on CIPA compliance

The Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) is a federal law enacted by Congress to address concerns about access to offensive content over the Internet on school and library computers." (FCC Consumer Facts, 2012)
