62nd Annual Bean Feed Tickets on Sale Now

Plans for the 62nd Annual Wapato High School Bean Feed are well underway.  This year our decades old philanthropic event takes place on Friday, January 25th from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the Wapato High School Commons.  Tickets are on sale now at the High School’s main office or you can purchase them the night of the feed.  Adult tickets are $5.00 per plate and Students/Child are $3.00.

The Bean Feed got its start 62 years ago as a fundraiser for the family of a Wapato High School student who was battling cancer.  Every year since then the proceeds from the event have been used to help cancer patients.  In recent years the proceeds have been donated to help with cancer patient services at the North Star Lodge Cancer Center in Yakima.  Over the years the Bean Feed has raised a total of about $160,000.  It is arguably one of the largest community events each year.  It is not uncommon to find generations of families attending the event, many of whom are Wapato High School Alumni.  In fact the past few years Wapato High School has incorporated an alumni recognition night into the Bean Feed activities and is doing so again this year.  So if you are a Wapato High School alumna you are encouraged to attend and be recognized.

Wapato will be hosting Toppenish in basketball that night as well.  The girls varsity game starts at 5:45 p.m. and the boys tip off at 7:15 p.m.
